New York, N.Y. – Because of forecast bad weather global humanitarian agency Church World Service has canceled the last of several scheduled long-term recovery trainings in New York.
The canceled event was scheduled for Friday, January 25, at the First Presbyterian Church in Jamaica, a church of the New York City Presbytery.
Those who had planned to attend are invited to register instead for a training scheduled for Thursday, Jan. 24, at the Long Island Volunteer Center, 175 Central Avenue, South Bethpage, NY 11714.
Those interested in registering for that training should email Alisa.Brumfield@fema.dhs.gov
As part of its continuing post-Hurricane Sandy recovery efforts, CWS has coordinated a series of long-term recovery trainings in New Jersey and New York this month – three in New Jersey and two in New York. The workshops provide those working to help communities rebuild and recover with an overview of long term recovery and a forum for sharing lessons learned and best practices gathered through decades of experience in large and small disasters.
CWS is a global relief, sustainable development and refugee assistance agency, addressing the root causes of poverty and hunger around the world. As part of its work, CWS operates a domestic disaster response program.
