Each refugee’s journey to safety in the United States begins long before they ever board a plane. Each person who is referred for refugee resettlement in the United States goes through a lengthy and complex process of health, security and background checks before they are approved to travel.

The CWS-operated Resettlement Support Center Africa guides all U.S.-bound refugees from sub-Saharan Africa through the long resettlement process and prepares them for their new lives in the United States through specialized cultural orientation and English language programming.

As the United States has slowed down its processing of refugees for resettlement, RSC Africa has grown its work with UNHCR to identify new cases of refugees in need of resettlement for submission to the U.S. Refugee Admissions Program.
