The Four A’s: AMMPARO, a Holistic Call to Action
The word “amparo” in Spanish means the protection of a living creature from suffering or damage. The message of Psalm 46:1 lays at the heart of the Evangelical Lutheran Church (ELCA) in America’s cross-cutting response to human mobility. AMMPARO is a holistic, whole church commitment by the ELCA, as a church in the world, to accompany migrant children and families. In the Americas we work across congregations and synods, with secular and religious partners, and local migrant community organizations in region to support youth, women, and families and to address the root causes of migration. Join CWS Faith Solidarity members, Mary Campbell Director of AMMPARO and Giovana Oaxaca, Program Director for Migration Policy to explore the unique challenges and opportunities of AMMPARO through the four “A’s” guiding AMMPARO’s mission: Accompaniment, Articulation, Awareness-Building, and Advocacy.
Hosted on 11/01/21 by Mary Campbell, Director of AMMPARO and Giovana Oaxaca, ELCA Program Director for Migration Policy.
