Welcoming Refugees: Communicating with a Global Perspective

One of the critical components to successful interaction, in any context, is communication, but how do we communicate with others that we do not share a common language with? Can we really forge a long-term friendship without language? In this session, Amer will respond to these questions as he shares a glimpse of his journey as a beneficiary of resettlement services, a volunteer, and a resettlement agency staff. Amer will also explore the challenges facing new Americans as they explore in a new community, and how your role as a volunteer can make a huge impact on the lives of many. This session will include real-life experiences that will kindle your curiosity.
