Introduction:
Church World Service (CWS) is celebrating our 78th birthday with a meaningful challenge aimed at spreading kindness and making a positive impact in communities around the world. By participating in the 78 Acts of Kindness Challenge, you can join in this celebration and help support the important work of CWS. This guide will walk you through how to participate in the challenge, share your acts of kindness on social media, and contribute to raising awareness about CWS programs.
Learn About Church World Service (CWS):
Before diving into the challenge, take some time to learn about CWS and the various ways our programs are transforming communities. Visit the CWS website www.cwsglobal.org or follow us on social media to familiarize yourself with our mission, vision, and the communities we serve.
Understand the Challenge:
The 78 Acts of Kindness Challenge is about performing 78 acts of kindness throughout the months of April and May, encompassing CWS Giving Day on May 1. These acts can be big or small, ranging from simple gestures of kindness to more significant contributions to your community or beyond. These acts of kindness continue the legacy of compassion and community transformation that CWS has built these past 78 years.
Plan Your Acts of Kindness:
Brainstorm a list of 78 acts of kindness that you can do during the month of April. Consider a variety of ways to spread kindness, such as:
- Helping a neighbor with chores or errands.
- Sending texts or emails to people expressing gratitude for them.
- Volunteering your time at a community organization.
- Writing thank-you notes to service providers such as mail carrier or garbage collector.
- Sending care packages to someone in need.
- Complimenting a stranger.
- Picking up trash.
- Baking cookies for your local fire department staff.
- Make sure to choose acts that align with your interests, skills, and resources.
Document Your Acts of Kindness:
As you perform your acts of kindness, document them with photos, videos, or written descriptions. Keep track of your progress throughout the month to ensure you reach the goal of 78 acts by the end of May. (You will need to do at least one a day and extra on the weekends!)
Share Your Acts on Social Media:
To raise awareness about the CWS 78 Acts of Kindness Challenge and the work of CWS, share your acts of kindness on social media platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and TikTok. Use the hashtag #CWSKindnessChallenge and tag CWS in your posts to connect with others participating in the challenge and inspire others to join and learn more about CWS.
Encourage Others to Participate:
Invite friends, family members, coworkers, and followers on social media to join you in the CWS 78 Acts of Kindness Challenge. Share your experiences, insights, and the impact of your acts of kindness to motivate others to get involved.
Donate to Church World Service:
On May 1, CWS Giving Day, consider making a donation to support the vital programs and initiatives of Church World Service. Your contribution will help empower communities, provide humanitarian aid, and promote justice and peace around the world.
