Students will spend their days engaged in meaningful, hands-on work and intentional reflection.

Throughout the week, your group will:

  • Work alongside Memphis youth and community leaders on critical home repair projects
  • Replace roofs and address urgent housing needs
  • Participate in a CWS Kits build as a tangible expression of service
  • Reflect together on faith, justice and community
  • Connect local service to global ministry through conversations with CWS leaders
A Typical Day Includes:
  • Morning devotion and job site preparation
  • A full workday on the roof
  • Evening reflection and worship
  • Time to build relationships and grow as a team

Each day combines hard work, thoughtful conversation and shared experiences that strengthen both faith and community.

Why Memphis?

Image
The summer changed the way I view service by showing me that I was not the only one pouring into others, but the people I was serving had something to pour into my life as well.”

Memphis is a city rich in culture and resilience — and home to communities facing real challenges around housing, food security and access to basic services.

Service Over Self (SOS) is a Memphis-based youth mission program that has partnered with local homeowners and neighborhoods for decades.

Through SOS, youth serve in neighborhoods where dignity, relationship and long-term commitment matter. This is not service from a distance. It is learning alongside local leaders and residents who are strengthening their own communities every day.

Who Leads this Week?

Image

Church World Service (CWS) is a global faith-based organization that partners with churches to serve communities facing hardship around the world.

For this mission week, CWS partners with Service Over Self (SOS), an experienced youth mission program that has hosted high school mission teams for decades.

Together, CWS and SOS provide:

  • Trained site supervisors on every project
  • Clear safety protocols and structured workdays
  • Background-checked staff and volunteers
  • Dedicated program staff guiding reflection and worship
  • Ongoing support for group leaders throughout the week

Your students are never on their own. Every project is carefully planned and supervised so youth can serve confidently and grow together.
