Meet the CWS Organizing, Policy and Advocacy Team

CWS’ organizing, policy and advocacy teams - led largely by staff who come from refugee/asylum backgrounds themselves - equip a network of 2,500+ immigrant and refugee leaders in Georgia, North Carolina, Ohio, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Texas and Virginia. We equip participants with the tools, skill-building, and networks needed to advance their representation in:

  • Legislative visits with national, state, local elected officials
  • Media through op-ed, LTEs, or other media pieces
  • Journalist/reporter networks
  • Pro-immigrant state and local policies
  • Legislative hearings
  • Press conferences, community events, and actions
  • Civic engagement, including equitable and accessible voter registration, voter education and voter mobilization
  • Elected or civic leadership positions
