Latter-day Saint Charities and CWS Light the World

Imagine going online and purchasing four chickens for a family in a developing country. Or a warm blanket for to keep someone warm on a cold night. Or a beehive to families who have been impacted by drought, to help them generate income sustainably.

Make an impact this Christmas season with the CWS Best Gift program and change someone's life for the better.

CWS has one goal: building a world where there is enough for all. After 77 years moving towards that goal, we continue to have the faith and experience to know it’s possible. Working around the world, we’ve seen gardens flourishing in barren land. Migrants and refugees finding home after every other door has been closed. Houses standing strong against nature’s worst disasters. That’s the power of your compassion at work when it links to human resilience.

Our Best Gift Catalog is an expression of that work. Donations made through Best Gift are one way to enter the story of this work fully. Your gift represents our deep connection and commitment to one another. It is the Best Gift because you become part of the connection.

What is Best Gift?

A Best Gift is more than a donation it’s a way to turn hope into action. It's fresh food for a family facing hunger, clean water for a community in need and a warm welcome for someone seeking safety and belonging. You can feel confident knowing your donation supports the program area it represents.

For more than 80 years, CWS has worked toward a world where there is enough for all. Along the way, we've seen communities transform challenges into opportunities: barren land become flourishing gardens, displaced families find a place to call home, and people rebuild stronger after disaster. That's the power of your generosity at work.

The true spirit of giving always causes us to think of others and act in fellowship. It speaks to the needs of our immediate families, and often extends beyond to our global one. It fuels our compassion and drives our willingness to give. In this season of giving, one of the very best gifts we can offer is not just a ‘present’, but the future … a sustainable one where a family much like our own no longer worries about a having a safe place to call home, a meal on their table, or hope - real hope - for a better tomorrow. And that's what this effort really is about. By choosing to give at a Giving Machine, you can provide families in need with the building blocks for generational change.
