In the early hours of February 6, a 7.8-magnitude earthquake rocked the border of Türkiye and Syria, devastating the region. Many thousands of people have been killed, with the death toll continues to rise.  Thousands more are injured and in need of shelter, medical care and basic supplies. This region hosts millions of Syrian refugees, and the impact of this devastation will be severe and long-lasting for these communities.

CWS does not currently operate in Türkiye or Syria. All funds raised through CWS will be directed to the ACT Alliance or other partners to support local organizations in the region who are actively responding to this humanitarian disaster.

As the scale of the devastation unfolds, ACT members in the region are conducting rapid needs assessments and are already working to provide life-saving supplies to impacted people. Funds donated will go to support these efforts including food and material assistance through regional partners, such as The Greek Orthodox Patriarchate of Antioch and All the East-Department of Ecumenical Relations and Development and The Middle East Council of Churches.
