CWS praises announcement on U.S., Cuba embassies

July 1, 2015

The U.S. and Cuba will open embassies in their respective capitals, ending more than half a century of severed relations between the two countries. We applaud President Obama and President Castro in rightly choosing to look forward toward a future of connection, rather than stay mired in a history of isolation. CWS first worked in Cuba six decades ago and has been a staunch advocate for normalized relations. We are excited about this new era of open diplomatic relations and what it will ultimately mean for peace.
