CWS DENOUNCES SUPREME COURT DECISION TO UPHOLD TRUMP’S EXPANDED MUSLIM BAN

After the Supreme Court ruled to uphold the latest iteration of President Trump’s Muslim ban, CWS President and CEO Rev. John McCullough issued the following statement:

“As communities of faith, we are wary anytime our government targets people because of how they pray. Donald Trump’s signature campaign promise was a ‘total and complete shutdown of Muslims entering the United States.’ Today, the Supreme Court granted his wish–just days after the President shared hateful anti-Muslim messages to his 44 million Twitter followers. This targeting of Muslim communities does not reflect the values of our congregations nor of our nation. The Trump administration has been dismantling U.S. leadership on protection and resettlement, and along with it, our values as a country. CWS is committed to continue working to welcome people of all faiths and religions–as has been our country’s longstanding legacy. We call upon our elected leaders to follow suit and stand together against this discrimination.”
