CWS Celebrates House Passage of American Dream and Promise Act

Senate urged to swiftly pass legislation to provide a pathway to citizenship and permanently protect our immigrant neighbors.

Washington D.C. – In response to the House of Representatives historic passage of American Dream and Promise Act (H.R. 6) that would provide protection and a path to citizenship for dreamers, Temporary Protected Status (TPS) holders, and Deferred Enforced Departure (DED) recipients, Rev. John L. McCullough, President and CEO of CWS, issued the following statement:

“Today we take a moment to celebrate the passage of the American Dream and Promise Act along with our immigrant neighbors. Permanent relief and protection for dreamers, TPS holders, and DED recipients is long overdue, and should be done without harming other vulnerable groups. We are grateful for congressional action to stand up for what is right. We urge the Senate to show compassion for those harmed by the administration’s hateful policies and act with courage to swiftly pass this legislation.”
