I headed west last Sunday on the New York State Thruway to Fredonia, NY, to speak to the Fredonia Presbyterian Church. They asked if I would speak about the work of CWS as they have supported our efforts for years and would be in the midst of working on CWS Hygiene Kits at for the Upstate NY Spring Kit Drive.

I happily accepted.  Although I had not visited this congregation before, I know them. They are one of the churches that serves as a CWS Kit drop off location and were honored several years for being one of the top per capita givers in Upstate NY to the CWS Blankets program. I was happy to have an opportunity to meet this congregation in person and thank them.

After a three hour drive I arrived. I was greeted with smiling faces, a basket of CWS Hygiene Kits and the laughter of kids running around the church before the service started. As I stood before them during their church service and looked out at their congregation, I was a struck by a thought I have had many times in my travels for CWS: Small congregations have big hearts!

I send out a BIG “thank you” to Fredonia Presbyterian Church and all the other churches for supporting the life-changing work of CWS.
