Situation Report: Typhoon Lionrock landfall in Japan

Situation

Typhoon Lionrock made landfall in Northeastern Japan on Tuesday, August 30, leading to widespread evacuations across the area. So far, reports indicate that 11 people have died and thousands more have been displaced.

Local authorities in Japan appear to be responding in a very timely manner, such that assistance from external agencies will likely not be required.
